SEWARD ALASKA INFORMATION Seward Boat Harbor
Seward Boat Harbor

Seward is a small community (less than 3,000 residents in the winter) that is nestled on an alluvial fan at the headClick here for Seward map. of Resurrection Bay - a stunning fjord 15 miles long on the Gulf of Alaska.

Our beautiful city is accesible by road from Anchorage - 127 miles of amazing scenery. It's no surprise this route has been designated a National Scenic Byway. We would recommend hiring a vehicle to enjoy the trip to its fullest, or take a bus ride if you don't want to worry about driving. Use either Seward Bus Line or Homer Stage Line. Another fun and scenic alternative is to take the Alaska Railroad. There is one train going in both directions daily:

  • Departing Anchorage 6:45 a.m, arriving Seward 11:05 a.m.
  • Departing Seward 6:00 p.m., arriving Anchorage 10:15 p.m.

Once you're in Seward, getting around is fairly easy. The main part of town is only one mile long and not as wide. You can actually walk to most locations. Places accessible on foot include:

It's free, it has a communal cooking area, and you can hike to the glacier from the campground.
